Mary Edna (Fisher) Lawson, 105, formerly of the Rocklane Community area, passed away on Feb. 1, 2012 at Franklin United Methodist Home in Franklin. She was born January 11, 1907 to Francis and Letha Jane Fisher in Martinsville. She married Melvin O. Lawson on July 27, 1929.

Edna graduated high school in Martinsville in 1925. She then rode the interurban bus to Indiana Business College in Indianapolis and worked as a secretary and as a bookkeeper. Later in life she enjoyed working on the farm, quilting, crocheting and sewing.

Survivors include a son Melvin E. Lawson (Laura Jane) of Greenwood, 2 daughters; Mary Donna Dougherty (Charles) of Shelbyville, Myra Howe of Tarpon Springs, FL, grandchildren; Kathy (Gaver) Powers of Tarpon Springs, Kevin Brooks presently in Afghanistan, Robert (Nancy) Dougherty of Shelbyville, Marvin S. Lawson, and Karen, Kyle, and Kevin Lawson. Also surviving are great grandchildren; Doug Patterson, Andrew Dougherty, and Matthew Dougherty.

She was preceded in death by her husband Melvin O. Lawson, a son Marvin Lee Lawson, 2 grandchildren; Sheryl Lynn and Richard Dougherty, 3 sisters and 2 brothers.

Visitation will be at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel, 481 W. Main St. Greenwood on Monday, Feb. 6, from 9:30-11:00 A.M. with the funeral service starting at 11 AM. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
